I've thought a bit about how I wanted to glue the plywood backing to the main stabilizer spar. I think I've come up with a way that I like. I found it was too hard to keep the plywood sections nice and straight along the ten foot length by just gluing them together into one long plywood back. Instead, I'll just flip over the spar and I can glue on the backing sections onto the spar one at a time, gluing the scarf connecting the sections at the same time. First, I wanted to make sure that the spar was straight so that it would be as straight as possible when I glue on the backing. I marked the centerline from the table to the bottom of the spar along the length after I glued it. I used the laser along the line and checked that it lined up with all of my center markings on the spar. Indeed, it looked like the laser lined up exactly on all the centerlines.
Here's the spar, flipped over so the flat side is up and I can glue on the plywood sections directly on the spar.
