I cleaned up the stabilizer first and then marked the taper line to help me make sure I didn't cut too deep with the router.

Since there is so much material to cut off at the ends I did a rough cut a 5 or so millimeters from the taper line using the band saw. This was a big help and allowed me to cut the taper with the router in one pass.

I used the same tapering method as before with the router mounted on the slide. Everything went well here.

And here's the finished shape without any of the plywood backing.
