Yesterday, I laminated the other spar boom for the stabilizer spar and today I cleaned it up. This time the clamping pressure was a little too much for the spruce and I got small dimples where the wood was crushed. I shot an email over to Sequoia and Alfred said the dimples wouldn't be a problem. I smoothed them out a little with some sanding so it looks fine. In the future, I will definitely use protective strips or blocks, and I can back off on the pressure a bit with the aerolite. The surfaces only have to be fixed and in firm contact, not crushed together. I now have the two booms ready to go. First, I will taper the inside surfaces of the spar booms, then I'll assemble the spar, and then I'll taper the other direction. Here are my two untapered booms.
