So to make the scarf joint in the middle of the 10 foot long elevator spar, I pretty much followed the idea of one of the scarfing jigs mentioned on the Sequoia Falco website. Since I already have a baby router, or laminate trimmer with an edge adapter, I just measured out an sanded a small block of wood to the 15-1 slope and bolted it on.
This slopes the router bit, but the edge that the router base slides along needs to be sloped as well, which I did with the sanding disc as well. After a bunch of test pieces, I got the hang of the adjustments and then scarfed the elevator covers. After that, I just glued the scarf joint and sandwiched it together.
