It's official. Today is the day. I finally made the first part that will go in my Falco. It's been about 3 months since I got the plans so it's about time I made something that will be part of the airplane.

I cleaned up the lamination I did yesterday and it went very well. First I took the file and leveled the dried glue that stuck out. Then a couple passes with the electric planer and it was pretty much done. I sanded it a little bit after that to clean it up. I put it back in the jig and marked the centerlines. Some perfect, beautiful pictures of my frame #4 bottom lamination...

Later on today I went swimming with the dog and worked on drawing the lines for the next frame jig I'll be gluing. Gotta love the nice weather.

I still need to add the internal framing for the finished lamination. I'll work on that this week and prepare the next frame jig for gluing so it will be ready when I get the time and good weather. Now I feel like I have a good system for the laminations and will hopefully speed up with the next few. Ideally I'd like to make a lamination on every day that I'm not working, weather willing. That would be 2 or 3 on weekends when I don't have much planned. That's probably not realistic but I'll try for that and see how it goes. I probably shouldn't make statements like that. I'll just end up embarrassing myself when I look back at how it really went...
