April 1, 2009

Some days start out so promising, and somehow go so wrong. I was excited this morning because it was a perfect day to finally glue the top skin on the elevator. Everything was all varnished so I figured I was ready to go. I went ahead and glued on the skin. The second time I do something, it always seems easier. The gluing proceeded, no problem.

After everything was set, I had more time to think and review. It then occurred to me that I could not remember whether I had scuff sanded the plywood before I glued it on. I clearly remember scuffing the bottom skins, but I'm not sure if I did the tops at the same time.

So I'm going to go through some pictures and scour my memory to see if there's any more info that I can use. This could be more trouble than it should have been (sorry, no April Fool's this time, I wish). Here are the skins I stapled down today. How strong is the bond???
